Samsung Releases Secure Folder on Galaxy Smart Phones

Following the recent appearance of the Secure Folder APK for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, Samsung has officially made the Secure Folder app available from the Galaxy Apps store.

Secure Folder is supported by the S7 and S7 edge on Android 7.0 Nougat, and Samsung says more devices will be supported soon. The new Galaxy A (2017) devices already support Secure Folder, so it will be devices like the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5 that will receive support in the future once they get updated to Nougat.

For those wondering what Secure Folder does, it is basically a more user-friendly version of Samsung’s KNOX security solution that lets you create a separate, private space for all your important apps and data. Anything you do inside Secure Folder – creating a document, taking pictures, or making notes – will not be visible during normal operation, which means no one other than you will be able to access this data. Since Secure Folder creates a separate entity for apps used inside, you can have two WhatsApp accounts on a single device, and similarly have two accounts in apps that might not otherwise have support for multiple accounts.

Secure Folder can be downloaded from the Galaxy Apps store if your S7 or S7 edge is running Nougat, and also from our APK archive. Not every region has Nougat on Samsung’s current flagships yet, but the company is slowly and surely getting around to global coverage so it shouldn’t be long before you are able to start using Secure Folder.

The app uses Samsung’s Knox security features to lock the files within, only making them accessible through a passcode or biometric security.

The only caveat is that you’ll need to be running Android 7.0 Nougat to use Secure Folder, which may or may not be available depending on your carrier of choice. Assuming you’ve got that set, Secure Folder is available now to download from Galaxy Apps.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Features

The Samsung Galaxy note 3 which is scheduled to being launched in July – August this year, is offering a lot of great features, that you could set your expectations high! Such as there are rumours saying that the Samsung galaxy note 3 is said to have a 6.3 inch screen with a resolution of 1080×1920.

Compared to that of the original Samsung galaxy note which has a 5.3 inch screen and also the Samsung galaxy note 2 which has a slightly larger screen of 5.5 inches. And it will also have smart scroll technology which basically scrolls down the page for you when it senses that your eyes are at the bottom of your page.

The latest rumour going around about the Samsung galaxy note 3 is that it could possibly have the fastest phablet on the market, since Samsung galaxy S4 and nexus 10. Samsung built are both taking a step forward when it comes to processor speed. Samsung insiders have hinted that there is a possibility that the galaxy note 3 will possess an Exynos 5 eight core processor which will not only just make it a fast phablet but one of the fastest devices on the market.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Features

Since the Samsung galaxy note 2 has a larger screen that can run multiple features at once, people are expecting a larger battery. Because the galaxy note two’s battery can sustain one and a half day at most, people are expecting the galaxy note three’s battery life’s sustainability to increase by 24 hours and last two and a half days.

Also the galaxy note three is rumoured to feature a 4,000 mAh battery where as the galaxy note 2 has a 3100 mAh battery life making the note three’s battery more superior. Also a lot of people are hoping that the galaxy note three will have the S – voice drive app which will navigate you from point A – B and will also make and receive calls, texts, and emails.

Industry insiders says that the Note may feature a 13-megapixel camera with an anti-shake feature so that users can take high quality images without the age old problem of shaking. It further reports that Samsung’s team is developing technologies to bring OIS (optical image stabilization) and shutter features for the Note 3.

It is also rumored that Note 3 will have a slimmer body compared with its predecessors, but then we wonder how Samsung would be able to do this after stuffing powerful hardware in it. Who knows, Samsung might amaze us by bringing something new to take advantage of its big screen.

Toshiba Excite 10 Review

Toshiba has officially unveiled its new tablet Excite 10 with some mid to high end specification coupled with elegant looks. This tablet are powered by 1.3 Ghz Quad-core Tegra 3 processor and runs on Android 4.0 Ice-cream sandwich operating system.

Not two months after its release of the "thinnest and lightest" tablet, the Toshiba 10 LE, Toshiba is back with a new 10-inch tablet: the Toshiba Excite 10.

It's not thinner or lighter than the LE, but the Excite 10 does bring Android 4.0, a Tegra 3 CPU, and an 128GB expandable storage option to the table. That may be enough to outclass the LE, but what about tablets that offer more than just a thin profile?

The Toshiba Excite 10 supports a huge 128GB expandable memory slot, has fast Tegra 3-induced performance, a comfortable design, and Android 4.0 capabilities.

Toshiba Excite 10 Review

As the second 10-inch tablet released by Toshiba in less than two months, it feels only natural to compare it with the Excite 10 LE. The LE is both thinner and lighter than the Excite, but the Excite feels like more care was put into the tablet's actual construction as it has none of the exposed edges the LE produced. In addition, the Excite 10's smooth, wide, rounded corners make it comfortable to hold in my hands.

The tablet is quite bendy though. Not a deal breaker, but also not something I appreciate in a tablet. Also, the edge casing feels like it could be stripped off if I pulled hard enough. Granted, I'd need to pull really hard for that to happen. To be clear, these are more nitpicks that I noticed than serious design flaws.

Excite also supports Micro-HDMI, Micro-USB, and a full-size SD card slot. The slot supports SD cards up to 128GB capacity, which matches the storage capacity of the Toshiba Thrive and trumps the 32GB capacity most microSD tablet slots support.

The data cable is longer and fatter than most and feels unwieldy and cumbersome as a result. Hopefully Toshiba implements something more streamlined in its next round of tablet designs. Beyond the design problems, despite an attempt on four different PCs, I couldn't get the tablet to show up as a drive after plugging it into either computer's USB ports.

Camera:

On Excite  you'll find a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and along the top edge, about an inch away, is a small microphone slit. On the back of the tablet at the top right is a 5-megapixel camera with an LED flash light directly to its left.

Operating System:

The Excite 10 is the first Toshiba tablet to ship with Android 4.0.3 installed. The UI is identical to what we've seen on other Android 4.0 tablets for the most part, with a few small changes. Chief among them is the Enable Balanced Power setting that appears to dim the backlight, regardless of the current brightness setting, ostensibly to save battery life.

The other is Audio enhancement, which allows access to SRS sound settings like volume boost, clarity enhancements, and others. The audio enhancement feature clearly improved the sound quality of all audio when turned on, enhancing the previously muffled sound to something with more clarity.

Few Drawbacks:

Backlight bleeding is obvious when viewing black screens on the tablet. Also, its data connection cable is unwieldy, camera performance is unimpressive, and the price is a bit too expensive compared with what's available on the market.

Summary:

10-inch LED AutoBrite display with a resolution of 1200 X 800 pixels, it is also packed with Corning Gorilla Glass and has 1.3 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor for processing data at faster rate. It is coupled with 1GB RAM  and has 5.0 Rear camera same as Excite 13.

It uses a standard Li-on battery which gives a backup of upto 10 hrs, the connectivity features in Excite 10 are same as in Excite 13, the two devices are almost similar in specification and features except in the display size.  Excite 10 comes with a price tag of $449.99 (16GB model), $529.99 (32GB model), $649.99 (64GB model).

The bottom line: The Toshiba Excite 10 provides Tegra 3 performance and huge expandable memory potential, but is priced a bit too high compared with other tablets.

HTC One X Short Review

The HTC One X brings the best processor, an HD screen and a sublimely thin chassis as the Taiwanese firm looks to recreate the success of the original Desire.

With Ice Cream Sandwich running from the outset, this is the phone that really takes HTC to the next level – but is it a case of too much, too soon for a brand that's still really just over a decade old?s
Design

Unibody designs and smooth lines have been a feature of its devices, and that principle has been evolved with the HTC One X.

The One X is a large piece of phone estate in your hand. But it's that large 4.7-inch screen that is such a stunning feature of the One X – it's a 720p HD display packed into a chassis that's only 8.9mm thick. Plus it's also using the Super IPS LCD 2 technology that, while it lacks the vivid color reproduction of Samsung's Super AMOLED range, really brings games and movies to life. But what is best? OLED or LCD?

HTC One X Short Review

OLED or LCD, it's a matter of choice whether you prefer improved contrast ratios or a more true to life color reproduction. In our opinion, both are excellent and the One X will certainly not disappoint.

Like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, HTC One X  has got a pixel density (screen sharpness) that rivals the iPhone 4S, but does it on a screen that's over an inch larger. It's one of those devices that you have to see to really believe, but there's a good chance you'll confuse it with a shop model with a static image Sellotaped onto the front.

HTC One X  is very light indeed at 130g. That's quite a bit heavier than the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S2 (14g, in fact) but in reality you'll consider it to be almost impossible to feel in the pocket.

HTC One X  features the 8MP camera, which protrudes quite a lot from the handset. While the smaller SIM will be a slight annoyance to those upgrading from the full-size version, the lack of a microSD slot will be a big worry for many, especially as HD movies and large games will play very well on a phone like this.

There is 32GB of onboard storage, but that's not going to be enough for the like of smartphone user that wouldn't buy an iPhone until capacity was raised to 64GB.

And thanks to the slightly curved nature of the chassis, doesn't affect the phone too much when resting on a table.

The size is the main design issue we can see for most people – this sleek-looking, lightweight phone will appeal to both men and women, but those with smaller hands will struggle to use the HTC One X effectively without doubling down on their digits.

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Galaxy S2

The Samsung Galaxy S 3 is the company's new Android flagship and it features a quad-core processor, a 4.8" 720p screen and an 8MP camera packed in a 8.6mm body (no chins this time).

Samsung Galaxy S III runs Ice Cream Sandwich with Samsung's latest TouchWiz interface that includes cool new ways to interact with the phone - S Voice (a direct Siri competitor), eye-tracking (Smart Stay) and several other clever tricks, which the smartphone has up its sleeves.

And, if you don't need to be quite on the bleeding edge of smartphones (and paying through the nose for it) then then Galaxy S 2 may well be enough for you. OK, here is a brief comparison between Samsung Galaxy S 2and Galaxy S 3.

To start with, both the Galaxy S2 and the S3 run Android, but different versions. Samsung Galaxy S2 uses Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread), customized with the TouchWiz 4.0 UI overlay and Swype text input. It's upgradeable to Android 4.x -which the Galaxy S3 comes with by default - Android 4.0.4 to be precise.

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Galaxy S2

Both handsets have Samsung's 'hub' apps in common including the Social Hub, the Games Hub and the Music Hub.

And with respect to processing speed, The Galaxy S2 was one of the first handsets to feature a dual-core processor. Inside the S2, you'll find an Exynos processor (formerly 'Orion'), rated at 1GHz. This was the dual-core follow-up to the successful single-core Hummingbird chip that appeared in the original Galaxy. The S3 by contrast ups the ante to quad-core with a new chip called the Exynos 4 Quad - it runs at 1.4GHz.

There are performance improvements over the earlier Exynos processor also the quad-core processor consumes 20 per cent less power.

Super AMOLED and Super AMOLED Plus:

The Galaxy S3 takes Super AMOLED to a new level with an HD, 1,280 x 720 screen. While it's half an inch bigger than the S2's 4.3-inch, 800 x 480 display, there's no Super AMOLED Plus tech used unlike the S2. But the S3's display has to be seen to be believed and, while the S3 seems to dial down Super AMOLED's massive colour saturation, it's a terrific screen.

Storage and memory

The Galaxy S2 comes in either 16GB or 32GB models, while the S3 also adds a 64GB model to the list. Both feature 1GB of RAM. And both the models support microSD card.

Cameras

Samsung Galaxy S3 is an 8 Megapixel camera with extras that include: autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus functionality, face/smile detection, image stabilization and 1080p video capture (the S2 also had a 8MP unit). The front camera actually takes a step down - you'll find a 1.2MP 720p camera in the front of the S3 for video calls or self-portraits while the S2 had a 2MP unit. The S3 is also capable of full 1080p HD playback, and I guess S2 can also do the same with regard to HD playback.

Cameras aren't all about megapixel count, and both the rear and front cameras on S3 will be improved massively, especially in low light conditions, and hopefully during recording videos in lower light, the S2 suffered slightly grainy footage in low light. Having said all of that, the general consumer seem to take megapixel count as an example of how good the camera is.

Connectivity

In terms of connectivity, both phones are well-specced. The Galaxy S2 and S3 incorporate 3G/HSDPA and HSPA+ at speeds up to 21Mbps where supported. It's got every band of Wi-Fi covered too and can handle 802.11a/b/g/n with DLNA content sharing and Wi-Fi Direct.

Bluetooth 3.0+HS finishes off the wireless options in the S2, while you get the new and more power efficient Bluetooth 4.0 inside the S3. The S3 can also use MHL to output to a monitor via its micro USB port.

Sensors

Both these Smartphones feature GPS/A-GPS, a built-in gyroscope, digital compass, plus screen-flipping accelerometer, proximity and light sensors. And the S3 adds a barometer.

Dimensions

Like the Galaxy S2, the new S3 is a neatly designed, beautiful-looking handset that measures 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6mm compared to the S2's 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.49mm. Yes, note the size has gone up across all the dimensions, but the plastic remains which means the weight doesn't reflect the bulk. The S3 weighs in at a respectable 133g compared to the S2's 116g which, if you've held one, you'll have thought was very light indeed.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy S2 boasts a 1650 mAh battery, while the S3 has a 2100mAh battery. Because, bigger screen and quad-core processor need a lot more juice, so the bigger bulk is no doubt down to the bigger battery inside the S3.

Final Words:

There's no doubting that the S3 is a terrific new handset and it seriously ups the ante on the ageing S2. However, it depends whether you're prepared to pay for the privilege of owing a new model handset.

Sony Xperia S Delivers Extremely Useful Features

Recently revealed details have increased our levels of anticipation on Sony Xperia S. Also, in the year 2012, one of our most looked is the Sony Xperia S.

Sony’s planning some truly unique and extremely useful features for its next-gen Android device.

The Sony Xperia S was in prime contention for this year’s MWC show for ‘most anticipated smartphone’.

We know that the Sony Xperia S will finally provide us with a dual-core Sony device – a 1.5GHz chip, no less. Note that the ‘Ericsson’ is missing – that’s because Sony has bought out its Scandinavian partner and future devices will simply be known under the reassuringly techy Sony moniker.

Back to the Xperia S, and it’ll also boast a 4.3-inch HD screen for iPhone 4S Retina display-levels of sharpness. If that’s not enough iPhone-bothering already, how about a 12-megapixel camera with Sony’s typically excellent Exmor R image sensor technology. There’ll also be NFC and a distinctive notification strip that runs the width of the device.

According to Xperia blog, the Sony Xperia S will come with an extraordinary stain-resistant shell. This has been confirmed by Sony itself, over on its Facebook account. Apparently this involves a nano coating that repels dirt – an effect that’s apparently boosted by exposing the phone to the sun’s rays.

Sony Xperia S Delivers Extremely Useful Features

Another cool new feature is the Sony Xperia S’s reported fast charge capabilities. As expanded upon by Phandroid, this will mean that you can pump it with an hour’s worth of juice in just 10 minutes, while 30 minutes will charge the phone to 80 per cent. The system will slow down a little in order to push it to 100 per cent capacity, but mostly full in half an hour sounds good enough to us.

So the Sony Xperia S will be super fast, super sharp, unique-looking, will take top notch pictures, will have (in Android 4.0) one of the finest mobile operating systems ever, will repel dirt, and will charge to almost-full in 30 minutes.

Happy faces, remarkable places. Shoot them in full HD Video and see them shine back from the razor-sharp clarity of the HD Reality Display powered by the Mobile Bravia Engine.

  • 4.3 (10.92 cms) HD Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA® Engine
  • 1.5GHz dual core processor
  • Snap photos in just over 1 second from sleep mode
  • Easy connectivity via HDMI cable or wirelessly with DLNA
  • 32GB internal memory
  • Powered by Android™ 2.3 (upgradable to Android™ 4.0)

So, what more you want Sony Xperia S to give you?

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus S7500 Pros And Cons

Samsung has finally come out with the upgraded version of galaxy ace. The Galaxy Ace Plus packs a 3.65-inch HVGA (320 x 480 pixel) display in a 114.7mm x 62.5mm x 11.2mm (4.5in x 2.46in x 0.44in) frame. The Ace Plus features a refined design with rounded corners and a glossy back.

The pixel quality seems good and there were no blur images, it may be low but its of good quality.

Samsung has promised to provide the 4.0 android ICS soon but this will also get outdated as android 5.0 jellybean would come later this year and android 6.0 key lime pie next year which proves that most of the phones would get an upgrade.

The only thing missing is a front camera and scratch resistant screen. The thing that most of the people don't know about android phones is that the apps cannot be completely move to SD card some part of it stays in phone memory to disallow piracy of apps and some cannot be even moved to SD card thus, the internal memory of 3GB (Usable 2.7 GB) comes handy over here. Well, this is really sufficient.

There are some serious questions on whether is it really an upgrade?. The only upgrade we are talking here is the steep price and internal memory and just the slightly over clocked CPU (200 to be precise)-that's it,that's what u get after paying an extra $ 100 more compared to older galaxy ace.

Ok, here is something I would like to say why it is not worth the price-

Display resolution is the biggest drawback of this handset as the size has increased a bit the resolution is exact same as the original galaxy ace, and in fact this kind of display was present even in 2006 and so.. Which results in poor quality display and blur images and over all user experience is extremely poor

Adreno 200 GPU is very very old and is just not capable of handling modern day graphics and games, forget watching HD videos and playing HD games as other competitors in this price range are easily capable of doing (some even have HDMI port).

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus still missing the front camera, which I feel Samsung could have accommodated on the phone.

Samsung is very smart indeed. They create cheap phones in the name of the Galaxy series and make insane profits. They created a killer in the name of Galaxy S2 and won the critics. Now, they are capitalizing with these cheap phones priced way overboard. People with little knowledge of anything other than the names 'Samsung' and 'Galaxy' are quite easy to fool. Bottom line is you got to be a fool to buy anything other than Galaxy S2 of Samsung.

To Conclude With, for this price range, this is a full pack with good power under the hood. Powerful set. Should go for this if you have fixed your budget on this range, and if you really feel that you have missed Samsung Galaxy Ace.

Samsung Rugby Smart Advantages And Disadvantages

The Samsung Rugby Smart for AT&T, compliant with MIL-STD-810f military grade standard, will enable Samsung to compete in yet another smartphone segment of the already saturated U.S. market.

While it is no secret that Samsung's smartphone lineup in the United States is difficult to keep track of due to its sheer size, a rugged device had been a notable omission until the arrival of the subject of today's feature.

The Samsung Rugby Smartphone has been made to stand out even up to thirty minutes under water, intense temperatures, convulsive shocks, rain and dust. It is an Android powered smartphone with a display of 3.7-inch Super AMOLED screen.

Samsung Rugby Smart Advantages And Disadvantages

On the first look, the Samsung Rugby Smart looks like any other smartphone. The display is a 3.7-inch screen. The screen is surrounded by a glossy black bezel consisting of a chrome covered AT&T logo.

The 4.4 ounce, 4.8x2.6x0.5 inch Samsung Rugby Smart is a little heavy as compared to other Samsung smartphones, but as compared to the steady protection and stability of the set, the Samsung Rugby Smart appears to be pretty light.

Mil-STD 810F military specifications

Created according to the Mil-STD 810F military specifications and standards, the Samsung Rugby Smart can withstand much more exploitation than any other normal smart phone. The covers of the port are air tight, and made up of tight rubber seal so as to avoid water and dust to seep through the ports openings. The rear of the phone has been provided by a large chrome screw so as to maintain the rear panel at its place and confirm the airtight security.

All of these protections help the Samsung Rugby Smart to endure even after being soaked less than one meter of water even after thirty minutes. It has been also claimed to be dropped from approximately 6.6 feet and also go through extreme temperature conditions of up to 110 degrees Fahrenheit.

But still, it has a major drawback that the touch-screen does not work under water submerged conditions. Hence, it will not be a favorable choice for the Snorkelers to take the phone with them on their adventures.

The 3.7-inch Super AMOLED 480x800p display has been embedded in this phone to deliver bright, vivid colors with the sharpest details which are very useful while zooming in and also reading text.

Although Samsung claims the Rugby Smart to be delivering the finest picture quality, however, many times slight perforation and pixilation cannot go unnoticed on the screen.

The full volume of the phone can fill a small room with decent amount of sound magnitude even through small rear speakers. However, small brassiness in the percussion can also be noticed.

The Samsung Rugby Smart offers three distinct keyboards: a Samsung keyboard, the standard Android keyboard and Swype. Trace technology is said to be fairly good for quick, effortless typing and email. Yet, hap tic feedback on all the keyboards is not up to the mark.

The Rugby Smart phone operates on Android 2.3 with Samsung Touch WIZ 3.0. There are a total of seven customizable home-screens represented by white dots on the bottom of the display. The initial default home-screen has a Google search bar, an Android Tips widget and icons for Calendar, Messaging, Market and Camera.

At the bottom of the home screen are icons for for Phone, email, Web and Applications. At the top, a bar has mini-notifications shade with shortcuts for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, Airplane mode and Screen Rotation. Supportable to all Android Apps, the phone becomes a full-on user friendly entertainer.

This smart-phone comes with a 4 GB device memory and is expandable up to 32 GB using the micro SD slot.

Running on AT & T's HSPA+21 networks, the Samsung Rugby delivers quite decent performance of online services.

The battery of the Samsung Rugby Smart lasts up to 6 hours and 39 minutes, which is 56 minutes longer than an average Android phone, on average usage conditions.

The Samsung Rugby Smart is available in the market for $99.9. For those shoppers, who have durability and quality on the top priority, this is good choice.

Motorola RAZR XT910 Pros and Cons

Armed to its newly sharpened teeth and carrying the legacy of a legend, the Motorola RAZR XT910 is one of the best Android phones on the market.

The 4.3" SuperAMOLED screen boasts higher resolution than, say, the Samsung Galaxy S II. It bumps up the pixel density to 256ppi (up from 217ppi). And with a dual-core processor running at 1.2GHz and 1GB RAM, it's got enough processing power to challenge the other dual-cores. It has an 8MP camera with 1080p recording too.

The RAZR droid is only 7.1mm thick throughout and about 10.7mm at the bulge that holds the camera and loudspeaker.

Been using this phone for a week now and over all its a nice phone packed with features. Here is the list of Pros and Cons I would like to share…

Motorola RAZR XT910 Pros and Cons

Pros of Motorola RAZR XT910:

  • Very good visibility even under the sun.
  • Very good GPS as compared to others. Locks immediately.
  • Very responsive.
  • Plays HD videos very well.
  • Moto cast is brilliant.
  • Brilliant camera.
  • Very good call quality.
  • Powerful signal reception.

Cons of Motorola RAZR XT910:

  • The phone is thicker at the top
  • Motorola RAZR XT910 is bigger than the regular or other 4.3 smart phones.
  • Black splotches on black screen. Doesn't impact the display though.
  • Lose power Button.
  • Don't get full wifi signal even when the router is next to me.
  • Average battery life even with 1780 mAh battery.
  • Screen uses PenTile matrix (offset by high ppi); a little dim too
  • No FM radio
  • No dedicated shutter key
  • MicroSIM card support only
  • Non-user-replaceable battery
  • Here is a video demonstrating how to change the non replaceable battery on Motorola RAZR.

And by the way, the rest of the specs are pretty exciting too. Here's the best part of them - and the not so good.

Key features

  • Stunningly thin 7.1mm body, splash resistant
  • Quad-band GSM and quad-band 3G with HSDPA and HSUPA
  • 4.3" 16M-color capacitive SuperAMOLED touchscreen of qHD resolution (960 x 540 pixels, 256ppi), scratch-resistant Gorilla glass
  • Dual-core 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor, PowerVR SGX540 GPU, TI OMAP 4430 chipset; 1GB of RAM
  • Android OS v2.3.5 with customized UI
  • 8 MP autofocus camera with LED flash; face detection, geotagging; 1.3MP front-mounted secondary camera
  • 1080p video recording @ 30fps; Slo-mo VGA@120 fps
  • Dual-band Wi-Fi ab/g/n; Wi-Fi hotspot functionality; DLNA
  • GPS with A-GPS; Digital compass
  • 16GB storage; expandable via a microSD slot
  • Accelerometer and proximity sensor
  • Standard 3.5 mm audio jack
  • microUSB port (charging) and stereo Bluetooth v4.0 with LE and A2DP
  • standard microHDMI port; Web Top compatible (docks sold separately)
  • Smart dial, voice dialing
  • Office document editor; MOTOPRINT app to print Office docs
  • Active noise cancellation with a dedicated secondary mic
  • DivX/XviD/X264 video support
  • Web browser with Adobe Flash 11 support

The RAZR may be thin but it's hardly fragile - it uses Kevlar to cover its back and Gorilla Glass to secure the front. It's splash-resistant too.

The Motorola RAZR comes with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread out of the box and a completely new user interface. It's quite nice, with helpful tools to streamline your interaction with your phone but we missed some functionality in some places too.

In general, this has very good display - not overly saturated. The SMARTACTIONs is indeed smart automation. In general - very satisfied - very big though. Could be better if released in a bit smaller size (shorter width) by removing a bit of the bezel.

Samsung Galaxy W I8150 Advantages And Disadvantages

With the latest of Android and TouchWiz, the Samsung Galaxy W I8150 takes a support-and-assist role to the company’s flagship – the S II. The Galaxy W is powered by the same 1.4GHz processor we know from the Galaxy S Plus. Ditching the SuperAMOLED screen in favor of a standard issue S-LCD should make the Galaxy W more affordable.

The Samsung Galaxy W I8150 is a Galaxy S (Plus) inside, but a completely different device outside. The change of screen tech is the key thing to note. No SuperAMOLED is bad news aesthetically, but should be easier on your budget.

Galaxy W should allow you to do almost everything its superiors can: playing games, stepping up your social life, browsing the web or capturing the world around you. Surely, there will be a thing or two missing.

At 115.5 x 59.8 x 11.5 mm the Galaxy W is still reasonably compact and pocket-friendly. The phone weighs a good 110 grams.

At 3.7-inches the screen is big but easy to manage and the textured rear makes it look solid - bordering on rough. The Galaxy W's 3.7” screen is an LCD unit (S-LCD according to some sources). It won’t get you the deepest of blacks, but it’s a decent screen with nice viewing angles. The downside is the reflective and not particularly bright display is difficult to use outdoors on a bright sunny day. And the fingerprint prone surface doesn’t help either.

Samsung Galaxy W I8150 Advantages And Disadvantages

The Samsung Galaxy W’s rear features the 5 megapixel camera lens, complete with a LED flash and the small loudspeaker grill at the bottom.

Features:

  • General: GSM , HSDPA 14.4 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps
  • Form factor: Touchscreen bar phone
  • Dimensions: 115.5 x 59.8 x 11.5 mm, 109.9 g
  • Display: 3.7" 16M-color WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) LCD capacitive touchscreen
  • Platform: 1.4 GHz Scorpion processor, Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon, Adreno 205 GPU, 512MB RAM
  • OS: Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
  • Storage: 2GB built-in, microSD card slot
  • Camera: 5 megapixel auto-focus camera with face detection, touch focus and image stabilization; HD (720p) video recording at 30fps, LED flash, front facing camera, video-calls
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, standard microUSB port,GPS receiver with A-GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, Stereo FM radio
  • Misc: TouchWiz 4.0 UI, built-in accelerometer, multi-touch input, proximity sensor, Swype text input
  • The microSD slot is hot-swappable

There’s a 1500 mAh battery inside the Samsung Galaxy W I8150. The performance would be on par with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Ace or the HTC Desire S.

TouchWiz on Gingerbread: The Samsung Galaxy W I8150 runs Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread out of the box, skinned with TouchWiz 4.0. It's the latest software available, and effectively the same package as on the Galaxy S II.

There's a bit of the Galaxy Ace S5830 in it and some of the Galaxy S Plus. Galaxy W will cross paths with these two more often than not.

It seems no number of phones will be enough for Samsung in the midrange. Some of them may look too similar but they may never compete on the same market. And phones like the Galaxy W will probably enjoy robust demand by both end users and carriers.

Warning! Not all apps can be transferred to SD card. There are apps that only installs on internal memory. And if you transfer apps to SD card, that particular app would load as slow as a granny crossing down a street.

Bottom line is the Galaxy W is a Galaxy S Plus in disguise: it looks good but doesn’t come with any SuperAMOLED awesomeness. It’s a modern and understated Android to offer some high-end services on a midrange budget. Some of the key points you need to be aware…

  • No gorilla glass display,
  • All Samsung galaxy mobiles look same.
  • No camera shutter
  • No hdmi means cant connect with tv...

The battery will last me approx. 30-36 hours in weekday with 1 hours of call, 2-3 hours of web surfing including download in market & youtube, few messages & an hours of gaming, sometimes an hour of Papago GPS, during weekend it usually last a day with more usage.

Don't expect good battery life for Android, you will really miss those phones which can last for at least 4 days.

Other than this, we have no complaints about the all-plastic Samsung Galaxy W. It is a well-built phone, with a solid masculine look. It’s easy to handle and the differently patterned surfaces are nice accents on what’s an overall clean design.

Advantages Of Instagram for Android

Instagram, the popular photo sharing application which gained prominence on iOS – is now available for Android. Complete with a beautiful user interface and a full feature-set, it seems to have been worth the nail biting.

On the 3rd of April 2012, Instagram finally became available to users of the Google operating system. This is probably the most anticipated application to grace Android devices to date.

The popular photo sharing application has been around from 2010 but all this while has been limited to only users of iOS devices.

All the filters found on iOS are found on Andriod Version Too: The Android app offers an extremely familiar Instagram experience when compared to the iOS app. You’ll find all the same exact filters and community as on Instagram iOS version.

Advantages Of Instagram for Android

The first version of the app for Android shares most of the features found on the iOS version except for Tilt Shift / Blur, Share from Feed, Live Preview and Share to Flickr.

However, succeeding versions of the app will bridge this gap between the two operating systems.

To download the much awaited app on your Android device, head on to the link here or through the Google Play app on your handset, install it and become a part of one of the biggest photo sharing applications to date.

So what makes this app so successful?

The basic premise of the app is quite simple: take a photo, choose a filter and upload it to Instagram. There's also the option of posting to Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Tumblr, etc.

Advantages Of Instagram for Android 2

Filters Make Instagram Popular:

What initially made the app so popular was how good the filters are. For example: the ability to transform an otherwise dull photograph into a romantic, sepia-tinted print. The other reason: quick access to social networks.

Apart from sharing on regular social networks, Instagram itself has become a worldwide photo sharing community, allowing people to browse other users' uploads and comment on them. The fact that Apple has been upping the ante on its devices' cameras has also contributed greatly to Instagram's success. Better cameras mean better photos.

Instagram's solitary association with Apple almost made it a sort of a status symbol. Now that the app is on Android, it's going to be accessible across a variety of devices and across different grades of cameras. Some better than the Apple's offerings, and many worse.

As of now, the app is available on Android phones running version 2.2 and above. There is no support for Android tablets yet. But with more than 4.3 lakh users on the wait list for the Android app, it looks like Instagram's success story is only beginning.

Features of Instagram:

  • 100% free custom designed filters and borders
  • Lux works its magic by making your photos more vibrant and brings out details in your photos you couldn’t see before
  • Instant sharing to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Foursquare (Flickr coming very soon)
  • Interact with friends through giving & receiving likes and comments
  • Works with Android versions 2.2 and above that support OpenGL ES 2
  • Full front & back camera support
  • And much much more…

Some people are scratching their heads wondering “what’s the point of this app?” But I think it’s best to just download it and see for yourself. It made a lot of sense on iOS considering the OS’s sharing system is gimped compared to Android’s, but Instagram’s collection of filters and their beautiful photo stream, not to mention automatic uploading to tons of social networks, should be worth the download.

Get the free app, which has sustained a full five star rating in the Google Play Store.
