How to Stop a Phishing Filter On Internet Explorer

Microsoft helps protect you from phishing sites by providing a phishing filter within Internet Explorer. A phishing website attempts to scam users out of their personal and financial data through official-looking websites. The phishing filter runs in the background and warns you if a site you visit may be a phishing site.

However, if you don't want to frequently see warning pop-ups, you can turn the phishing filter off. You can easily turn it back on again if you need to.

Steps To Stop Phishing Filter On Internet Explorer :

  • Open an Internet Explorer window. The Microsoft phishing filter applies to Internet Explorer only.
  • Click "Tools" in the menu bar of your browser.
  • Choose "Phishing Filter." Select "Phishing Filter Settings."
  • Locate "Security" under the list of phishing filter options.
  • Click "Disable Phishing Filter." Press "OK" to save your changes.

You can also create a list of acceptable websites by going into the phishing filter settings. This will help prevent pop-ups on frequently visited sites.

Unless you're a new Internet user or are visiting questionable sites often, turn the phishing filter on to help warn you about possible scam sites.
