DVD RW Shown As DVD ROM On Windows XP Mode In Windows 7

Windows 7 XP mode Support for DVD RW Read Write? Or just DVD ROM only ?


When you log onto Windows XP virtual machine in Windows 7 XP mode - the Optical drive will show as CD/DVD ROM. You will not able to Write Into your CD or DVD Using WIndows XP Mode.

This is because Windows XP Mode will allow your CD/DVD can to be used for READ only. However, you can attach the Drive (provided its a USB device) to the VM and then use it for ReadWrite.

Note: You actually have to attach your USB CD/DVD RW to the VM with the USB pull down menu. If not, your Read Write Drive Will be taken as a network drive.
