There are a lot of services running in your system at the background which takes a small portion of your resources but makes your PC slower, here is a list of services that can be turned off this will speed up your pc a bit.
To stop those services right click on my computer - manage services and applications - services. You can also reach the list of services by shortcut "services.msc" In Run prompt.
Set the following services disabled, you will need to reboot for them to take effect

- internet connection firewall(icf)/internet connecton sharing(ics) (Don't turn off this when you are sharing files and printers with a group of other computers)

- logical disk manager administrative service

- ms software shadow copy provider
- net logon
- netmeeting remote desktop sharing
- network dde
- network dde dsdm
- nt lm securtiy support provider
- performance logs and alerts
- portable media serial number service
- qos rsvp
- remote desktop help sesson manager

- server (Again, dont stop this service when you are sharing any files and printers with a group of computer)
