Windows vista enables the operating system to control power to your computer and peripheral devices. Hibernate saves an image of your desktop with all open files and documents, and then it powers down your computer. When you turn on power, your files and documents are open on your desktop exactly as you left them.
Windows hibernation background services use a very large amount of system resources. (refer the image) If you are like most people you don’t use the Hibernate feature very much so you may want to disable it to give Vista a performance boost.
