Error 0X8004FE2F | Windows 7 Activation Fails When Behind A HTTP Proxy

Windows 7 activation fails with the following error code: 0X8004FE2F. You will get this error message when you are not able to connect to the Microsoft servers for activation. Indeed, the PC might be behind a corporate proxy or uses an automatic configuration script (.pac file) to access the internet.

Configure proxy host and port in IE connection's area manaully then connect and try to activate Windows 7. Try to contact one of these servers below without "user agent" information:
  • sls.microsoft.com
  • wer.microsoft.com
  • connect.microsoft.com
If you are not able to connect the above servers, then your proxy server is not allowing the access to the above sites. So, ask your IT team to allow your proxy server access the above servers.

Your proxies block traffic that does not contain user agent information, they had to allow these packets to the 3 sites.
