Virtual Router is an open source software which leverages the Wireless Hosted Network API which is a part of the new Windows Operating Systems (Windows 7 and Windows server 2008).
If you have got Wi-Fi in your laptop and have Windows 7 installed in it then you can easily turn it into a Wi-Fi hotspot and share your net connection with other people in the range and Virtual Router is the easiest way to do so.
With this feature, a Windows computer can use a single physical wireless adapter to connect as a client to a hardware access point (AP), while at the same time acting as a software AP allowing other wireless-capable devices to connect to it. This feature requires that a Hosted Network capable wireless adapter is installed in the local computer. (quoted from MS library)

Write commentsHi there, i'm using a DSL connection on my parents laptop. I want to connect to the internet from my laptop through theirs. I recently installed Connectify but it didn't allow for the DSL to work on my parents laptop (it said 561 error, etc), so i had to uninstall Connectify. Could you give me a piece of advice? Thank you very much, Andrei
ReplyHello Andrei, thanks for posing in bench3. I wonder is it really Error 561? i guess it should be 651 as error 561 is not related to networking. If it is error 651, you are not alone, Error 651 seems to be a known bug in Windows 7 that is being worked at. And follow this link to troubleshoot error 651. http://www.windowsreference.com/windows-7/error-651-with-pppoe-connections-in-windows-7/
ReplyAnd if you are sure that the error is 561, here is a work around.
