Advantages Of Instagram for Android

Instagram, the popular photo sharing application which gained prominence on iOS – is now available for Android. Complete with a beautiful user interface and a full feature-set, it seems to have been worth the nail biting.

On the 3rd of April 2012, Instagram finally became available to users of the Google operating system. This is probably the most anticipated application to grace Android devices to date.

The popular photo sharing application has been around from 2010 but all this while has been limited to only users of iOS devices.

All the filters found on iOS are found on Andriod Version Too: The Android app offers an extremely familiar Instagram experience when compared to the iOS app. You’ll find all the same exact filters and community as on Instagram iOS version.

Advantages Of Instagram for Android

The first version of the app for Android shares most of the features found on the iOS version except for Tilt Shift / Blur, Share from Feed, Live Preview and Share to Flickr.

However, succeeding versions of the app will bridge this gap between the two operating systems.

To download the much awaited app on your Android device, head on to the link here or through the Google Play app on your handset, install it and become a part of one of the biggest photo sharing applications to date.

So what makes this app so successful?

The basic premise of the app is quite simple: take a photo, choose a filter and upload it to Instagram. There's also the option of posting to Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Tumblr, etc.

Filters Make Instagram Popular:

What initially made the app so popular was how good the filters are. For example: the ability to transform an otherwise dull photograph into a romantic, sepia-tinted print. The other reason: quick access to social networks.

Apart from sharing on regular social networks, Instagram itself has become a worldwide photo sharing community, allowing people to browse other users' uploads and comment on them. The fact that Apple has been upping the ante on its devices' cameras has also contributed greatly to Instagram's success. Better cameras mean better photos.

Instagram's solitary association with Apple almost made it a sort of a status symbol. Now that the app is on Android, it's going to be accessible across a variety of devices and across different grades of cameras. Some better than the Apple's offerings, and many worse.

As of now, the app is available on Android phones running version 2.2 and above. There is no support for Android tablets yet. But with more than 4.3 lakh users on the wait list for the Android app, it looks like Instagram's success story is only beginning.

Features of Instagram:

  • 100% free custom designed filters and borders
  • Lux works its magic by making your photos more vibrant and brings out details in your photos you couldn’t see before
  • Instant sharing to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Foursquare (Flickr coming very soon)
  • Interact with friends through giving & receiving likes and comments
  • Works with Android versions 2.2 and above that support OpenGL ES 2
  • Full front & back camera support
  • And much much more…

Some people are scratching their heads wondering “what’s the point of this app?” But I think it’s best to just download it and see for yourself. It made a lot of sense on iOS considering the OS’s sharing system is gimped compared to Android’s, but Instagram’s collection of filters and their beautiful photo stream, not to mention automatic uploading to tons of social networks, should be worth the download.

Get the free app, which has sustained a full five star rating in the Google Play Store.
